A supporters’ club following its team to an away match keeps hours that look nothing like a day trip: leaving at dawn for a 15:00 kick-off, or getting home at 03:00 after a late evening match 500 kilometres away. Anyone looking to hire a coach for an away trip with fans also has to allow for an unknown that day trips do not have: the away trip can be restricted or banned just a few days beforehand.
Since September 2025 we have had an operating base in Lainate, with our own vehicles, all Euro 6, and from there we work with supporters’ clubs and sports clubs across Lombardy. From the same base we handle coach and bus hire in Milan for all our other services in the city and the province.
Before you book: the Osservatorio’s decisions
For matches considered high risk, the Osservatorio nazionale sulle manifestazioni sportive (the national observatory on sporting events, which reports to the Ministry of the Interior) can recommend restrictions on away fans. The measures are then adopted by the prefect, the State’s representative in the province: one of the most frequent is a ban on selling tickets to residents of a particular province or region.
The timing is tight. An example from Lombardy: for Brescia v Albinoleffe on 3 March 2026, in Zanica, the Prefecture of Bergamo banned ticket sales to residents of the province of Brescia, and the news came out on 28 February, four days before. The decisions are published on the Osservatorio’s website: check them before confirming and again in the days before the match.

Coaches for away fans: how a club gets organised
A club coach picks up people from different towns. Heading south from Milan, for example, you can leave from Lainate or from a point in the city and make one or two stops along the way, at open areas that are easy to reach and to find in the dark. More stops means leaving earlier: it is better to have a few well-chosen ones.
We need a passenger list with the name and phone number of a contact person for each pick-up point. On the day, small changes such as a difference of 15-20 minutes or one extra stop are handled directly with the driver. A change of destination or a major change of time must be agreed in advance.
For a club of 50 people the vehicle is a 54-56 seat Gran Turismo coach, with equipment that varies by model: reclining seats, USB sockets and, on some models, an on-board toilet. On a six or seven hour journey the equipment is not a detail: list in your quote request what you need.
Long away trips: a second driver and night-time returns
From Milan to Rome, Naples or Lecce and back in a day, driving times become the first constraint on the programme. The rules on driving and rest times are precise and apply to sports trips too: they set how many hours a driver can drive and when he must stop. Based on the route and timings, we arrange driving shifts within the legal limits and tell you whether a long stop is needed.
With an evening match, the return is in the middle of the night. We run night-time returns regularly, public holidays included. If the club prefers to stay overnight and come back the next day, the driver’s overnight accommodation is shown separately in the quote, along with tolls.
Amateur and youth teams in Lombardy
Amateur clubs have different needs from fans: shorter trips, often within the region, but every week and with plenty of kit. A basketball or volleyball team with staff comes to 15-20 people, and a minibus with driver in Milan fits more easily into the car parks of gyms and sports halls.
For youth teams, our drivers have specific training in carrying minors. On the vehicles used for schools every seat has a seat belt: if you need the same standard, say so in your request. Supervision of the young players remains with the coaches and club officials on board; an escort is not included in the standard service.

Visiting teams arriving in Milan
It also works the other way round: a team from abroad or from another region coming to Milan for a tournament or a friendly. In this case the service starts at the airport and follows the team throughout its stay, between hotel, pitch and training. For arrivals by air we work as we do for group transfers from Malpensa, Linate and Orio al Serio: we monitor flight times and, if the flight is delayed, the vehicle waits.
On request we provide an English-speaking driver. For tournaments with several teams and several coordinated vehicles we prepare a plan with timings and a contact person, as we do for other events in Milan with hired coaches.
How to request a quote for an away trip
Tell us the date and time of the match, the departure point and any pick-up stops, the destination, the number of people and any luggage or kit. If it is a trip of several days, tell us where you are staying. For normal services 2-3 weeks’ notice is enough; for a season of away trips or for several vehicles, 2-3 months.
The quote is in writing and includes the driver, fuel, passenger insurance and maintenance. Let us know as soon as the decision is published. Restrictions on away fans are often announced only a few days before the match, so it is worth checking the Osservatorio’s website both before booking and in the days leading up to the game.
Do you need a second driver for an away trip from Milan to the south of Italy?
Often yes, if the outward and return journeys are on the same day. It depends on the distance, the timings and the breaks possible: we tell you what is needed once we have the times and destination.
Can the coach make several stops to pick up fans?
Yes, several pick-up points along the route can be agreed. Each extra stop brings the departure time forward, so it is best to choose a few that are easy to reach.
How much does a coach for an away trip to a stadium cost?
