That changes the job compared with a trade fair on the outskirts: hotels are closer, but coaches move through city streets, with traffic lights, trams and access rules for buses. A shuttle for Allianz MiCo only works well if it knows which gate to stop at and what time the plenary session empties.

For congress agencies, PCOs and companies holding an event here, we have gathered what you need to know. From our Lainate base, open since September 2025, we run coach and bus hire in Milan with vehicles we own.

North Wing, South Wing and the gates

MiCo is divided into two wings and has many numbered entrances. According to the official website, Gates 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in the North Wing are reached from viale Scarampo and via Teodorico. Gates 1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12 and 16 in the South Wing are reached from viale Scarampo, via Eginardo and via Colleoni.

Each event uses only some of the gates, and the official calendar lists them event by event. For example, the EASD congress at the end of September 2026 used Gates 2, 3 and 16, while the FIATA World Congress in October used Gate 6. For us it is the first thing to ask: dropping 50 delegates at the wrong gate means sending them round the building. The up-to-date calendar is on the Allianz MiCo events page.

Metro, train or shuttle: what delegates use

MiCo is well served by public transport. Portello station on the M5 metro line is about 50 metres from the entrances, Lotto on the M1 about 800 metres, and the Trenord station at Domodossola about 600 metres. There are also tram 19 and buses 48 and 78.

So not every congress needs shuttles from morning to evening. They make sense in three cases: when hotels are far from the M5, for example near Linate or outside the city; when the audience is international and does not know the network; when timings are tight, such as an 08:00 opening with 500 people to get in at once. In these cases a coach that leaves the hotel and arrives at the right gate takes the most uncertain part of the day off the organiser’s hands.

Allianz MiCo shuttle from the hotels: how we organise it

With hotels in the city we run short, frequent loops. A 54-56 seat Gran Turismo coach for each large hotel, a minibus for the small ones, and timings set to the programme: if registration opens at 07:30, the first vehicle reaches the gate a little before, not after. When several hotels are on the same route, we put them on the same loop only if time allows.

MiCo can host up to 18,000 people in 65 rooms, with three plenary halls. At large congresses the evening exit is the critical moment: everyone leaves through the same gate in the same quarter of an hour. Vehicles must already be in position, and the loading order has to be decided beforehand, hotel by hotel, with signs on the windscreen. For congresses lasting several days we also recommend a short site visit with the organiser the day before the opening, to see together where the vehicles stop and which way the delegates come out. When the streets around the gate do not allow several coaches to wait at once, we use smaller vehicles in rotation, seating 16 to 27, taken from the fleet we use for minibus hire with driver.

Arrivals from Malpensa, Linate and Orio al Serio

MiCo is on the west side of the city, which helps with Malpensa, about 50 km from Milan: on a normal morning it takes an hour or more, up to an hour and a half at the wrong times. From Linate you cross the city. For international congresses, arrivals are concentrated in the days before the opening, often with delegates carrying posters, roll-up banners and suitcases.

We monitor flight times and, if a flight is delayed, the vehicle waits without you having to tell us. With arrivals on several flights we decide together whether to wait for everyone or run several trips. This is how all our group transfers from Malpensa, Linate and Orio al Serio work.

City rules for coaches and evening activities

To reach MiCo, coaches enter the city, and in Milan tour coaches follow specific rules on parking, Area B and Area C (Milan’s low emission and congestion charge zones). We check them before every service. The rules matter most for the social dinner, often in the centre or on the Navigli canals, where coach parking is limited.

Many congresses add a city visit for accompanying persons or delegates: in that case you can start from our one-day Milan coach tour itinerary. For events with more than 100 people we prepare a written logistics plan, with an operations contact reachable throughout the congress.

How to request a quote for MiCo shuttles

Send us the congress programme, the assigned gates, the number of delegates per hotel, the flight lists if transfers are needed and the address of the social dinner. Tell us too if you need English-speaking drivers: we provide them on request. The quote is in writing, with driver, fuel, passenger insurance and maintenance included, and extra hours are charged at a rate set in advance. The daily rate depends on the number of runs and on the vehicle, as for any coach hire in Milan.

If part of the event takes place in Rho, we also organise the service to reach Fiera Milano Rho by coach.

For congresses in the capital we work from our base in via Ugo Forti, running congress shuttles to EUR and La Nuvola.

Phone: +39 06 4882027.
